Line drawing 1990
This was a project done with Rapidograph for my Graphic Illustration Class. When I became an art major, my hope was to break into illustration. Since my college had only one illustration class, I had chosen poorly.
In hindsight maybe it was all for the best, as illustration is a tough field to make it in. I can remember an illustrator coming to the college to give a talk about what he does and I remember how stressed out he was. His main thing was doing illustrations that would appear on rock t-shirts, the kind you would buy at a concert or a record store (back when there WERE record stores).
He told us a story of some work he did for The Who. The Who had a reputation (at one time) of smashing their instruments on stage. The guy showed us a bent in half illustration board. Apparently Pete Townshend, also smashed illustrations he didn’t like.
Here is another illustration I did for this class.
